Using your Alexa – Calendars, timers, alarms and the do not disturb feature

In this small tip for Alexa devices we take a look at Calendars, timers, alarms and the do not disturb feature

You can set a Calendar item by voice command and then find out what is on your calendar if anything, using Alexa you can also create a timer or an alarm by voice. At the current time, you can set it to be a one time, or a repeating alarm by using just voice command.

You can adjust the volume of the alarm or timer, by going to Settings > (select your device) > Sounds > Alarm and Timer Volume.

 

Alarms

Here is how you can create or edit an alarm in the Alexa app:

From the menu, select Reminders & Alarms.
Choose your device from the drop-down menu.
Select the Alarms tab.
Select Add Alarm to create an alarm.
If you want to edit an existing alarm, return to Alarm tab and select existing alarm.

 

Timers

To manage an existing timer, open the Alexa app:

From the menu, select Reminders & Alarms.
Choose your device from the drop-down menu.
Select the Timers tab to view the status of your timers.
Select the timer you want to manage, and then select Pause or Cancel.

If two or more timers are set for the same amount of time, you can use the app to cancel them.

On compatible Echo devices, just say, “Show me my timers,” to see a list of timers that you have. If you swipe the timer it will be deleted.

 

Do not disturb feature

You can set a Do Not Disturb for specific times in the Alexa app, very handy for productivity
Select the Devices icon
Select your device.
Select Do Not Disturb.
If Do Not Disturb is turned off, use the toggle to turn it on.
Use the toggle to enable Scheduled.
Tap Start and End to select the times.

The Do not disturb feature will stops alerts for Calls, Messages and Drop Ins

Now you know how to set some of these options, lets look at some examples

Alexa, make a Calendar entry. July 5th. 10 AM. Doctor.
Alexa, what’s on my calendar?
Alexa, add an event to my calendar.
Alexa, wake me up at 7 in the morning.
Alexa, set the alarm for 8:00 a.m.
Alexa, set an alarm for every Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Alexa, set the timer for 30 minutes.
Alexa, how much time is left on my timer?
Alexa, what time is it?
Alexa, what’s the date?
Alexa, when’s my alarm set for?
Alexa, cancel the alarm for Friday.
Alexa, cancel all alarms.
Alexa, stop. (When the alarm or timer is sounding)
Alexa, go to sleep in 45 minutes.
Alexa, sleep in 45 minutes.
Alexa, snooze. (When the alarm is sounding)
